Patton’s Place 25Aug06

Let the dysfunction begin. One Mark A. Patton, now here’s a fella to be reckoned with. A long time friend who has damaged many a liver (i.e mine), Mark is writer of The Strand, as well as the recent Bloody Benders (in development), and the soon-to-be World Famous. These are a drop in the bucket compared to the stockpile of scripts awating attention, but at least are the ones coming to fruition at this time.

Mark’s online casa in a work in progress and is sheer madness, much of the content draws from private jokes, though the significance of the police car (yes, click on it, often) stems from Mark’s cameo in The Strand as a cop.

Enjoy.

Bloody Benders in development. 24May06

On the high prairie a mile northwest, beyond the nearby Mounds which bear the name, the Bender family – John, his wife , son, and daughter Kate – in 1871 built a small house.

Partitioned in two rooms by a canvas cloth it had a table, stove and grocery shelves in front. In back were beds, a sledge hammer and a trap door above a pit-like cellar. Kate, a self-proclaimed healer and spiritualist and reported to be a beautiful, voluptuous girl with tigerish grace, was the leading spirit of her murderous family.

The house was located on the main road. Travelers stopping for a meal were seated on a bench backed tight against the canvas. In the next two years several disappeared. When suspicious were finally aroused, in 1873 , the Benders fled. A search of their property disclosed eleven bodies buried in the garden, skulls crushed by hammer blows through the canvas.

The end of the Benders is not known. The earth seemed to swallow them, as it had their victims.

Solstice in development. 29Mar06

The joy of high school graduation is shattered for Megan when her twin sister Sophie commits suicide at a Christmas party immediately after an argument between them.

Half a year later, Megan’s friends are about to scatter to different colleges. For one last time they head off for their annual tradition: a weekend in the bayou for the summer solstice. Megan is at first reluctant—the lakeside cottage will evoke strong memories of Sophie, but her sister’s ex-boyfriend Christian persuades her
to come.

The trip begins as a fun getaway along with a burgeoning romance between Megan and Christian. However it develops an ominous overtone when Megan feels the presence of her dead sister all around. Mysterious and eerie events occur with ever greater frequency and intensity as she realizes that Sophie might be urgently trying to contact her from the grave.

Megan attempts to convince her friends that she is not imagining it all, which becomes terrifyingly clear the night of the summer solstice, when this world and the next are closest in harmonic convergence.

An apparition from the other side appears to them, but it is not Sophie, and the message it carries will change their lives forever.

Alex Borstein Holiday Greetings Pod. 24Dec05

In the holiday spirit (of course), Alex and I assembled what we call the “Alex Borstein Holiday Greetings Pod.”

This, an interactive aural/visual… “pod” if you will, where a week ago we invited fans (via her message board), to call a telephone number we established where they could leave a holiday greeting to other fans, friends, family, castmembers, or Alex herself for a period of one week.

Turned out many of the castmembers (Family Guy) called in as well as their own characters.

Those calls in turn would then be edited into a streaming semi-visual… something. ‘Not sure what to call it. Improvised?

Here’s the result (direct non pop-up version). And just when you think all there is during the audio run are visual loops, look again – there’s some interesting cameo appearances.

Enjoy your holidays, be giving, be joyous, be with family, thank your Lord, eat/drink until you throw up, rinse and repeat.
